Vintage Pinup

What is Sue-Style Boudoir Photography?

Sue has a different take on boudoir photography than most photographers. For her, portrait photography, even boudoir photography, is all about connection, glamour, and fashion-style imagery. This shoot revolves around a glamour version of vintage pinup. It asks the question, what would you find if you did a search for vogue pinup? And it teaches you everything you need to know about how to achieve it.

Posing and Setup

With just a normal chalkboard backdrop, a strobe light for a fashion look, 3 apple boxes, and a gorgeous set of vintage-style lingerie, you’ve got the building blocks for a stunning vintage pinup photoshoot. So get ready to learn how to take control of your set and create the playful imagery of a 60s vintage pinup poster. Your next step will be learning how to achieve that beautiful hourglass shape through giving the right direction to your client, while always remembering the face is the most important.

Shoot – Vintage Pinup Perfection

See Sue work her magic on set with a gorgeous model. You’ll follow along as Sue talks you through adjusting the light, adjusting camera settings, setting hair, and working through movement to shape the body into that perfect ‘S’ curve.

Starting from the feet, you’ll learn how to free up the hips and arms for motion. You’ll learn all about extension, expression, and the difference between what feels good for your client vs what the camera sees. You’ll have a view on the whole shoot as it progresses alongside each image Sue captures.

You’ll see various silhouettes from different eras as Sue shows you how to pose – from standing, to sitting, to staggering with apple boxes. You’ll see why some poses just won’t work and how others come through perfectly when you achieve proper perspective as the photographer. Most of all, you’ll learn how to create that carefree, playful, sexy, cute energy of a 1960s vintage pinup poster in this vintage boudoir photography shoot.

Retouching #1 – Bright Eyes and the Wow Shot!

A professional boudoir photography session isn’t finished until the perfect images have been selected and retouched. Here Sue takes you through all the images from the vintage pinup photoshoot. She’ll show you how she chooses the 10 images she knows her clients will love, how to find the “Wow Shot” that you’ll want for your folio, website, and wall, and just which shots their romantic partner will love the most.

Next, she’ll take you through how to make these bright-eyed beauties even more vintage in appearance, including what effects to use on the hair to bring even more volume and drama to the look. You’ll even learn how to bring feet back into perspective. You won’t want to miss this so that you can be sure to choose the beautiful boudoir photos your clients will love so much and just have to buy!
